 Two Dollar Bill Campaign
Show where your Snowmobiling Dollars are spent -
The 2010 $2 bill campaign - President’s Week 2010
As all riders know, Snowmobiling is very important to New York's economy. In past years we have had to fight to keep the funding for this vital recreational activity from being absorbed into the General Fund of the State of New York.
This is not just about people who want to enjoy the outdoors in winter; this is about recognizing how our sport feeds a dwindling base of businesses in the economically pressed communities our trails pass through. There are restaurants, gas stations, motels, convenience stores, and other businesses that survive the winter almost entirely on the money spent by snowmobilers.
To promote recognition of the importance and impact of our sport on New York's economy, President's Week in 2010 will be de-voted to President Thomas Jefferson, whose likeness graces the $2 bill.
Anyone who snowmobiles any time between February 12 and 21, 2010 is asked to start now -- gather $2 bills (you'll probably have to ask specifically for them at your bank). Use those $2 bills to pay for every snowmobile-related transaction you make during President's week.
About the Campaign
Gerald Arzie, Sr. came up with this idea, modeled on a similar campaign by sailors in Virginia. |
